As the temperatures drop the snowpack will quickly stabilise. In the high alpine wind slabs can still be triggered on specific terrain features.

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Torsdag er et kraftig mildvær på tur igjennom regionen. Trolig vil det regne høyt til fjells og snødekket vil i stor grad bli fuktet. Over mildværsgrensen vil det trolig legges igjen bra med snø.

15 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the west during the evening. -6 °C to 4 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 4. January 2019

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from northwest. -5 °C to 2 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Skredfaren vil raskt avta når uværet gir seg. Regnet har trolig gitt snødekket skikkelig juling og det vil være lite spenninger igjen i snødekket under 700-800 moh. Skredfaren ventes å være 1-liten under mildværsgrensen. Over mildværsgrensen kan det være noen ustabile fokksnøflak, men også de vil stabilisere seg raskt pga milde temperaturer under snøfallet.
Det vil bli skare i overflaten nå snødekket fryser på.
